The projects, located at Albrighton, Leaton, Normanby, New Milton and Haverhill, represent a combined capacity of 75MW and will benefit from long-term revenue certainty under the CfD scheme, which is designed to support investment in low-carbon electricity generation.
The CfD mechanism protects renewable energy generators from volatile wholesale electricity prices by providing a fixed payment for power produced. Long-term contracts are awarded between generators and the government-owned Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC), which sets a ‘strike price’ guaranteeing a stable income per unit of electricity generated.
Auction Round Seven awarded Contracts for Difference to a total of 4.9GW of solar PV capacity, securing revenue for a record number of solar projects at a strike price of £65.23/MWh.
James Whitcher, Director at Infrabee, commented:
“Securing CfD contracts across five sites is a strong endorsement of the quality of our development pipeline. It reflects the hard work of the team and marks an important step as we progress more projects from ‘ready-to-build’ through to construction and operation.”
