The 14MW solar farm to the west of Telford, Shropshire together with the 22MW scheme located to the south of Haverhill, Braintree, will collectively generate enough clean energy to power up to 11,500 homes each year.
Both sites contain substantial habitat improvements, including the provision of species rich grassland beneath the arrays and new native hedgerows and areas of woodland. The Shropshire site will alone deliver 73.00% net gain in onsite habitats, a 30.60% net gain in onsite hedgerows and treelines, and a 55.96% net gain in watercourse biodiversity.
As well as contributing to the UK’s net zero ambitions by combatting climate change, the schemes will also create jobs, provide a diversified income stream to local farm businesses and generate business rates for investment in council services.
Infraland were assisted on both schemes by Lanpro Services who provided expert planning, landscape and heritage advice.
Infrabee continues it's 100% success rate with its seven permitted solar schemes facilitating enough energy generation to power 85% of households across Cambridge.
Infrabee's Director of Planning, Hannah Salmon said "We are delighted to have secured planning permission for our Shropshire site under officer delegated powers so soon after our success at Braintree. Our 100% track record is a reflection of the team's commitment to finding the right site and developing schemes that avoid or minimise harms and maximise their positive environmental and community legacy."
